TV commercials for pharmaceutical companies are interesting. They are also comical at times: "side effects may include; excessive itching, heart palpitation, dissentary, flu-like symptoms, sudden death. If these symptoms persist, contact your doctor." Now folks, its hard to contact your doctor from the funeral home. Other commercials let you know that their medicine may be a help in preventing a illness inherited from your family history, i.e.,cholesteral. You may have to change your diet, exercise, etc. These companies have only your sickness in mind and making money is only secondary to your good health...okay. This truth is realized when you see they must spend nearly $200 mil lobbying to get medications passed that aren't tested, in some cases. Besides, some lawmakers need a few weeks on the Carribbean to rest.
Okay, enough sarcasm. In truth our family history is important to our day to day conversation, or to filling out forms to see a doctor for the first time, and even starting a new job. The day to day conversations are a real kicker. I hear people say, "heart disease runs in our family," or, "nearly everyone dies from cancer in our family," and then they give you a run-down of each member by name, "let's see, mom, my grandpa on dad's side, two of our uncles"....you know, the list. And for some reason, in spite of medical warnings, we tend to not alter our life styles in spite of that history. Many take the, "what's the use attitude," and figure they will go that way too. Be careful little mouth what you say...
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who
love it will eat its fruit." Prov.18:21 (NKJV)
"A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare to
his soul." Prov.18:7 (NKJV)
Talking death is common for all who have ceded to the "that's just how it is" attitude. I have taken this attitude many times, over many things, and have become a victim to my own words. "I will never...I can't...nobody cares," etc. etc.
"Pleasant words are like honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and
health to the bones." Prov.16:24 (NKJV)
"Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from
evil. It with be health to your flesh and strength to your bones.
Speaking life is rejecting "just how it is, just the way I am" attitude, and taking what God says, and living a new way by speaking blessings, goodness, joy. Today I choose to laugh and speak His word into my situations, "I can with God, I will through Him"...and "generational curses no longer apply to me, and that means disease!"
What about my blood line? Which bloodline do you refer to? Adam's? Mom or dad's? Some ape's that never existed? Or the precious blood of Christ that has transformed us, by this new birth, into the kingdom of God, made us joint heirs in Christ Jesus? Jesus, took our sin and destroyed ALL our pasts with His death, burial, and resurrection, and made us a people who was not a people,...we are now living eternally with Him by our faith in Him! It really doesn't matter how this body dies...I have an eternal one of flesh and spirit waiting! So start talking about that. I may not be able to put that on medical forms, or my resume, but I can tell it, live it, and give it!
Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all, Keith.
