I have been given many gifts throughout my life. these gifts always come at holidays like, Christmas, or my birthday. I am grateful for all of these gifts. Now that I'm older, I don't feel the need for gifts for these occasions. Today I'm looking for gifts that I need to tune into, and these gifts turn me on to a new way of thinking, acting, and living. These gifts do not come from friends or family...the are direct from God.
We all have received gifts in life that were unusable, we couldn't wear them because they were too small, too large, or impractical. Some gifts had to be returned. But the gifts from God are not that way. I never say, "God, I need the receipt for this present because I need a better fit." What He gives me to wear fits me to a tee. The tools He gives me are always practical, what I always wanted, and needed. His gifts come to me as I tune in to what His Word says. I can turn them on when I need them, no need to hunt through my toolbox to find them.
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil." Eph.6:11 (NKJV)
"But above all these things, put on love, which is the bond of
perfection." Col.3:14 (NKJV)
You see these are the clothes that the real me, the spiritual man wears, a perfect fit.
I can use the tools daily, the sword of the Spirit, the shield of faith. The journey I walk through life my be rocky, the footwear He gives is perfect for life's terrain. I can walk in unity, walk in love, and walk in wisdom. (Ephesians 4&5) I can walk in the Spirit:
I say then, "walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of
the flesh." Gal.5:16
All of his gifts are usable. Without these gifts, I am uninterested in loving and caring for others. I have no desire to help anyone, to discover spiritual truth, to know God at all because I want to hide from Him, refuse His presents to me, and take the trash offered by the world. When I live for me I receive the consequences of life and no way of returning them, I get to keep them...after all, I paid the price. They are not gifts, they are consequences.
All of these wonderful presents from God are free because of Jesus Christ, who paid for them. I am tuned in today. I have received understanding of my unworthiness. All of these are gifts of grace, unmerited on my part. I'm turned on too. I have a desire to implement these great gifts, and impart them to others. You can have them to, they are free. Just tune in to what God has for you, and turn them on in your life.
Thanks for reading, God bless and keep you all, Keith.
